Winegard Automatic Dome HDTV Antenna

Thinking seriously about installing one of theses automatic signal seeking Winegard antennas.
Has anyone done one yet ? Any idea where to buy it ? Have found listings for it on Winegards site but no prices or where to get it.

There was a thread on this topic not too long ago. If it's what I think it is, everyone who made the upgrade was happy. Winegard is supposed to be coming out with the latest and greatest after the first of the year so you may want to hold off. However, this new "antenna" is not plug and play like the others. It appears as though the installation will require roof penetrations.

Assume you are talking about this HD antenna - not the SD 'domed' antenna ?

With the recent advent of wireless nodes, installation should be much easier now (maybe not easier than mine since it was rolled into the purchase )

Now look for sites that are NOT tree covered so we can get our HD, especially during football season !
Last time 10 adults ending up in ours watching the 55" LED !

No, actually this one ~
http://www.winegard.com/rayzarauto/

Not available yet but have talked to Winegard. Should be a pretty easy install, use the existing coax from the stock antenna and the existing booster gets replaced with the controller for the antenna.

Hope to get one shortly after first of year and have it in as one of my Spring projects.

Just finished chatting with a Winegard rep. It is going to be around $399.00.

I was also told it should be available in a week or two. Could be a Christmas present for some folks!

I'm looking forward to the reviews as well, if any folks purchase it. I'm interested, but heck, after just buying my RW back in September, I don't think my wife would be willing to let me purchase one...yet!

This is an OTA antenna, not for satellite [DISH/Direct]. Pretty expensive for OTA, I'll wait and see. Will certainly take the frustration out of spinning the OTA antenna, at least one would hope!!

Because I have a Trav'ler with DISH I seldom use OTA/cable. The park we're in now has cable, I haven't even connected it to the coach.

We like to record, then watch when we want so using sat with DVR is really the only option.

This looks like a good setup instead of cranking on the standard antena. I like everything automatic. I never use regular tv with the auto direct tv dish

We have a Winegard Carryout automatic portable and love it. It has a 50ft cable (I also have another 50ft extension) and that allows placement of the antenna where there are no obstructions. Works well.

The price is a little discouraging - and the part about get power from a wall interface to the antenna itself.

Cool concept - but those two obstacles will probably have me using the factory bat wing for the few times we actually use it.

The wall controller replaces the factory Booster and is the power source for the antenna, You also re-use the existing coax cable from the batwing and all signals, power etc is carried thru it.
Don't ask me how, I know just enough 'lectricity to be dangerous but spent 10 minutes on the phone with a Tech at Winegard and he confirmed this. Looks to me like the biggest thing will be mounting the new antenna and sealing holes. Antenna comes with a coverplate for where the batwing was.

Ah that makes it much simpler then Vaughan. Thanks for updating me. the controller would then be right next to the satellite controller on mine.

Mounting the new antenna would be a snap.

We have an automatic satellite seeking Winegard, but we purchased the stand alone unit as opposed to the roof mounted. We live in the south where having shade on a campsite is highly desired. Anticipating that the roof mounted would be problematic for the trees, we elected instead to get one that we could move around to get the best signal. We used it for the first time in Wyoming and it worked very well. We had an issue with the satellite trying to access our home Georgia satellites for local channels, but that was our error in not letting the satellite company know we were out west.

I have the Winegard Traveler HD automatic for DTV, but occasionally need the batwing to pickup local news & weather that DTV doesn't "allow" you.

Usually get poor performance from the batwing and spinning can be tedious. This new automatic OTA looks like it might be the solution. It's only money...
