What model portable surge protectors??

I am looking to add a portable surge protector and see that most, if not all use the PMS . .

I see that they have 3 versions:

SSP-50X - - $139.00 on their site, cheaper elsewhere
SSP-50XL - - $151.00 on their site, cheaper elsewhere
EMS-PT50X - - $ 453.00 on their site, cheaper elsewhere

is it the EMS version I want? Is it worth the extra $$ ? I have no problem getting that one, just want to make sure it's the right choice...

From that pricing, it looks like one may be portable and the other a permanent install.

EMS-PT50XL looks to be the only True EMS. It protects everything the others do, BUT adds the Hi/Low Voltage protection, and frequency protection.
Which to protect your ACs you need the low voltage protection and you need the hi voltage protection for your electonic devices.
It looks to be a portable version of the Hardwired unit that many of us are using.
The two cheaper ones look to be Fancy version of a Surge Protector, while giving you some protection won't shut the power down in all dangerous conditions.

Joe, this what I've been using for almost 10 years & has saved us several times, actually the 1st one got fried at a campground, but rv undamaged.
It's on sale on CWs website for $309.

I use same as Danny. Has saved coach at least twice that I'm aware of. If it died and wasn't warranty I'd buy another in a minute.

Don't know about the Portable Progressives, but the Hardwired version has a "Life Time Warranty".
We started with TRC Portable, which started giving us problems after four or five months of use. Since we were in Florida and not too far from the Factory, I contacted them to see if I could bring it in to be checked, but since we had it more than 90 days they wouldn't do a thing.
So check the warranty on what ever you get.

Correct M&A even on portables:
"Lifetime Warranty" Information PII offers a 100% Lifetime Warranty on materials and workmanship for your Electrical Management System (EMS) or Smart Surge Protector (SSP) products.

I went with the Progressive Industries, EMS-PT50XL.

Amazon was $333.00 no tax, no shipping....

Thanks all for your help...

ps - also got a retractable nylon coated locking do-Hicky to keep everyone around me in the campground honest !

We use the same thing, hook up at our site has a problem, and the surge protector did its job, it actually fried the end of plug on the protector, but nothing got to the RV.
Cost (1) new Surge Protector, money well spent.

I have a portable surge gaurd that has saved us once. My only concern with the portable is if the cord connection at the trailer shorted the portable would do no good
