Under Bed Storage

Has anyone redesigned the bed so that you can lift the mattress and store seldom used items?

What is under the bed?

Mine has drawers that pretty much make use of any available room under there. The rest is plumbing and electrical.

Ditto on ours --- drawers that are never used for us weekend warriors...

And if full timers would probably forget what was stored down there

My FB has approximately a 3'x14" space at the center foot of the bed, am having a drawer built for bedding to take up most of it.

Our RL has drawers under both sides of the bed. Used to store extra blankets, pillows, etc. Wife knows what is in them.

In my RL there is some extra space under there but mine might be different due to the slide-in-slide. I would recommend to everybody to remove the paneling under their bed frame so you can lift the mattress and check for leaks easily. Mine had 2 pieces of paneling.

X2 I read about it on the old forum with regard to the washer hose leaking. Low and behold, I had a drip. They didn't get glue all the way around the fitting on the PVC elbow. Probably would have molded before I ever noticed the leak, so glad I looked.

I don't know if we have the hoses or not. We are plumbed to the closet for a washer but don't have or want one. I don't know why they would have to run hoses to the closet. It is to the hall side , the water heater and water inlet are both almost totally to the rear side of where the lines are .

Our hoses and drain run up the side of the closet by the bed, fed from under the bed by the headboard. At that point the drain turns to flex and goes down through the floor under the bed. If you take out a drawer under the bed you should be able to see them (if they are there) with a flashlight.

Ours is the 38RL. Came with 1. We've got the dealer adding another to make use of the wasted space they had there.

Underbed storage

This area is full of wires as well as washer drain. I would not try to put anything under this area as you would have to unscrew the box springs to get to it. I had a major leak first time Wife ran washer. trust me I know. I would take bed apart and look if I were using my washer for first time regardless. the flex hose will pull apart when slide moves in or out. I fixed mine now so it doesnt come off. after 5 days of running a dehumidifer and fans to dry up bedroom. trust me no fun.
