Tucson bound by way of New Orleans

We are heading out with another couple to Arizona on the 12th and thought we would go to New Orleans on our way from Ontario. Will we have problems with the flooding along the Mississippi or should we try and do this trip when we return? Looking for suggestions. Thanks in advance.

I sincerely hope that flooding has receded by the time you reach New Orleans.

Probably won't be a problem in New Orleans. We were just there over the weekend and noticed an RV park right on the edge of the French Quarter we want to check out sometime.

Ontario, Ca. or Canada

Nawlins has the French Culture,
but be sure and pass a good time in Lafayette, La and the surrounding area...
Great campground near Lafayette --> Cajun Palms - Home

Go down to Avery Island and the Gardens there...
See the 'home' of the Evangeline Oak in St Martinsville--> attractions

Read RVparkreviews .com before you stay at the campground near the French Quarters.

We hadn't done any research on the park and had only seen it driving in for the Sugar Bowl last week. We drove over in our car and didn't pull the RV. We are picky about where we stay and what we saw looked pretty decent for an RV park located where it was. No doubt it is surrounded by traffic and a interstate but for pure location especially if you are driving a dually pulling a 5th wheel it appears to be a good spot to visit the French Quarter area.

After you said check the reviews, I expected them to be overwhelmingly bad but most were generally ok. Some of the negatives would be expected..homeless people are all over that area. We saw plenty of it and found it to be very sad. We did walk all over the French Quarter and the Superdome area and never felt any more threatened than we did in New York City or many places we've visited in the Caribbean. You just have to be aware of your surroundings at all times.

Wasn't too surprised about the pricing either. All about location I guess. Not often I'd pay rates like that, but we have in Destin, FL to stay at a park on the beach....at the urging of my dear wife.

Now after saying all that it almost appears like an endorsement for that RV park. It's not since we've never stayed there. We saw enough passing by it that we said we would investigate further and would consider staying for a day or two but probably not longer.
