Thetford problem;

Guys, I’m on my second thetford Aqua magic V, this time the flush handle has broken? I can put it back on but it doesn’t work properly. I want to change it out to a Dometic? Should we use the 310 or 320? And is it a simple changeout? I appreciate your feedback

It's any easy swap, the two bolts and you'll have enough slack in the water line to hook it up. The 310 has the round bowl and the 320 has the oval bowl.
We like the 320 the best. Make sure before you tighten it down that all your doors clear it. Had to make a slight adjustment for the shower door.

310 vs 320

I put in a 310 based on the specs from Dometic. I was concerned with the rear clearance. It fit fine and was very easy to install. It had plenty of rear clearance, so I wish I had used the 320! In any event, the Thetford is a piece of junk. The Dometic has been in 2 years with no problems.

10" clearance from the mount bolts to the rear wall for the 310, and 11" clearance for the 320.

I have the 310 sitting in the garage waiting to go in our 1/2 bath this spring. My Thetford didn't break, I just don't want to wait for it to. I read where someone here had one leak into their converter and that was enough for me.

NOTES: The prior year 310 seat was plastic, but a ceramic bowl. On the new 310, the seat is a wood seat with the slow close feature. Also the sprayer is extra. I just got the Amazon 310 with wood seat and spray for $220. There are cheaper, but when you read the fine print they don't have the better seat, which is a $60 add.

I figured that after spending $70 or $80 on the foot pedal when the valve began to leak I wasn't spending any more on the POS Thetford. When I purchased my Dometic at a local rv store (not CW) the guy handed me a close 1/2" plastic nipple & a 12" flex hose with 1/2" ends, I said "what's this" & his reply "if you dont need it, bring it back", guess what, I needed it, there was no slack in the toilet line, barely enough to add a shut off valve. So you may want to check the slack before so you don't have to make a trip in the middle of the install.

Toilet problems

Thank you for this post. Our 2012 redwood toilet just gave out so we installed the Dometic 310 today. Dometic fit like a charm. Feeling lucky that it lasted 6 years based on everything I’ve read.

Got a 310 in the garage waiting to replace ours! Did you get the spray and wood slow drop seat? Makes for a nice quality john!

Thetford toilet

Yes and what a difference. Much better quality. If I had realized how bad the other was, I would have had my husband replace it 6 years ago. 😂🤣😂
