Thermostat operations

Good morning, We have a 2015 39MB with 2 a/c units on the roof. There are 2 thermostats, 1 located at the bottom of the stairs, the other in the bedroom. the bedroom thermostat is a COOL only type, no heat controls. The one at the bottom of the stairs is HEAT & COOL. Fairly obvious. ! furnace 2 A/C units.

Now the questions. When I turn on the A/C using the bedroom cool only thermostat. Why does air blow out of all of the vents in the trailer and not just the bedroom only?

When I turn on the A/C using the thermostat at the bottom of the stairs only. Why does air blow out of all the vents in the trailer not just the living room area only?

When I turn on BOTH A/C units, using BOTH thermostats, air still blows out all of the vents just with a little more force.

It was my understanding that the bedroom thermostat controlled the forward A/C unit for the bedroom and master bath only. While the thermostat at the bottom of the stairs controlled the A/C for the main living area of the trailer. That's how it was explained to me during our walk thru when we picked up the trailer.

Am I off target and they work together sharing the same vents or are they supposed to be interdependent of each other?

They work together on a common duct system that spans the full length of the trailer

Both A/C's use the same ceiling ductwork. On our 36RL, the forward A/C does provide slightly more air towards the bedroom. I have found on ours that I need to set the bedroom thermostat at about 75* and the other thermostat at about 2 to 3 degrees higher. That allows the front A/C to do the bulk of the cooling until it can't keep up, then the rear A/C will cycle on/off. That seems to work best for us.

Also when set on electric, which is the heat pump, warm air will blow from ceiling vents. Set to gas heat, which only the furnace, air will blow only from floor vents. If set to elec, once outside temp drops to 35-40 degrees the furnace will start.

Don't feel bad Bob, the explanation I received during our PDI was very misleading as well. In fact, the dealer was clueless about how the heating/cooling system worked along with most of the other systems and components. That's what makes this forum great!!!!!

Also.....these thermostats are going to take some time to get use to. For best results I keep mine on continuous on.

Dave, why do you operate yours on continuous? Is it for the set back?

Agree with Dave,
the fan on seems to balance the air better and we like the fan on at all times as a 'background' noise when we are at 'noise-ier' campsites :-}
