I was looking at the SSP-50 and wondered if it would work correctly when connected to 30 amp shore power. Progressive Industries assured me that it would work fine from 50 - 15 amp power.

This one doesn't have the remote display.

If there is surge built in, it must be in the converter - since it appears to be the junction for all of the heavy electrical inputs. Since Steve just worked with it, maybe he'll reply withthe model # so it can be researched.

My concern with thenon-hardwired unit is obvious. It's too expensive to bejust sitting outside by the connection post.

Once the purchase is made, where does the unit reside? Do you install it in the battery compartment?

Mike, The converter is a World Friendship model WF-68100 and it does not have built in surge protection.

Thanks Steve. Good to know. I guess hardwired is the way to go then.

Mike we use an earlier version of Camping Worlds
<h1 itemprop="name" style="font-size: 1.7em; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0.2em; margin-left: 0px; color: rgb51, 102, 153; ">Portable 50-amp Surge Protector with Voltage Protection</h1>Catalog Item # 56422</span></span>
Our version has led lights to indicate errors. I thought that it was a good idea to test your power source before pluging in. I have a padlock and chain on mine and it works fine. This way the box is safe for now and I didn't have to try and get into the bowels of our coach.</span></span>
