Strange question....??

Just wondering if anyone still has a "new " smell in their RW?? My husband doesn't smell it but I do! It's absorbed in our clothes and even the chips and bread in the pantry! Admittedly I have a very keen sense of smell but just wondering if anyone else has noticed this as well??? Our DOGS even smell like our camper!!

What's funny, my wife commented after buying our new unit, that it doesn't smell as "new" as other RV's have. They have all been Jayco and they had a real strong formaldahyde smell.

So funny, when we go out we wonder if other people can smell that smell on our clothes.

New carpet, plywood, and many other new building products all contain formaldehyde.

Our last two Jayco's had much more "New" smell than our Redwood.
We have been fulltime in our new Redwood for about 3 months now and have not noticed any over powering "New" smell.

We bought our Redwood off the dealers lot as a end of year model to get better leverage on the pricing.

Based on the build date, it had been on the dealers lot about 6 months.
I think a lot of the smell / out gassing was gone by the time we bought it.

Sorry to say that after 2 1/2 years and 35,000 miles, ours has lost that new smell, but does have that lived in smell.

A local dealer took in a 2012 DRV on trade so we stop to look at just being nosey, don't want to smell that smell again, definitely was not formaldehyde.

My wife has a VERY SENSITIVE nose and she hasn't had any problems with the Redwood.

Virtually all products used in RVs today (carpets, woods, adhesives, stains and such) are formaldehyde free.
If there is a water leak of any kind (whether it be leak from rain or plumbing) there will be mold and it will smell.
The only other thing I can think of is if the RV Absorption type Refrigerator gets a leak of the ammonia gas, it smells terrible.

SMELL, that's the reason our last 2 RVs were new, we looked at a countless number of used & most all had some kind of odor, whether it was pet, smoke, mold, or poor holding tank treatments, they smelled.
Our RW still has the new smell after being closed up for a couple of hours.

Also, I agree with Robert that it's not formaldehyde as I think it's illegal to use it in building materials for the past several years due to it being a carcinogen.

A few years back, we sold a 5th Wheel to a private party that we bought new and had for about 6 years, they said one of the reasons they bought it was it did not smell funny.
They said they had looked at a number of used 5th Wheels in their price range both on dealer lots and private party sales and they just did not smell right.
At that time we were still weekenders and our 5th Wheel lived in a covered shelter behind our house.

Ours still has the new smell and considering I've burnt just about every food known to man in the kitchen it's still a wonder to me that our RW smells as good as it does. Add the two dogs and the fire smoke which always seems to find a path indoors and I'm exceptionally surprised by the new smell after two wonderful years.

I was just shopping with one of my sons for a toy hauler he wanted. We looked at one that looked good but it had mold smell and we found water damage. The dealer swore that they had fixed the leak and the unit was trouble free.

He's decided to stick with new.

Although we are not fulltimers yet, and our 31SL has not been used that often, it is nearly 2 years old and it still smell like new. Every time I open the door after it has been in storage, I enjoy that "new" smell! I can't tell you how many times my wife and I immediately walked out of a used one because of the urine or pet smell.

Even though ours is one month old now, it still smells new. One thing I do appreciate is the fact this does not have that nasty formaldyhyde smell.
