Slide Out Question

We have a 2014 31SL. When we put the passenger slide out, there is a terrible squeaking/grinding noise. Also, it seems to hang up just before it's finished going out. We are going to make an appointment to have this checked out, but are curious if anyone else has experienced this problem. Another issue we have is our Norcold fridge. We are now on our 3rd cooling unit and have had to have numerous high temp sensors replaced. That little thing just went out yesterday again. The black cylinder was extremely hot to the touch. I've been in contact with Norcold, but cannot get past the customer service department. I did send two, rather pointed, emails to Norcold but have not received any response yet. Thoughts?

We have a 2014 31sl anytime I have nothing to do I get under the rig and spray every part of the slides with a dry lube. That stopped all the squeaking. Then spray the bedroom slide motors with a shot also.

Yep I dry lube my slide components quite often as well. Sorry I cannot be any help on the Norcold. Ours had performed well for the past 4 years. Some people have added a fan assembly in the back of the unit to get better circulation. It almost sounds like you have a circulation problem in the back. Have you checked out the back area. There should be an air baffle located at the top.

Thanks for your reply! Interesting that we have the same RW model as yours and your Norcold is working perfect. We do have the air baffle and all other vents that seem appropriate. I have sent two emails to Norcold but have not had a response yet. Regarding the slide out, which brand of dry lube do you use? We've been using WD-40 but the squealing is just getting worse.

Thank you. We will get some of that. On another note(s) we have had other issues with our RW. One of the main things is that the passenger slide out (also the one that has noises) is that after it rains, and we bring the slide in, then travel, we have water that seeps into the carpet; from the door side of the slide, all the way back to where the TV is. We had the dealership look at this, but the idiots they are, couldn't figure out what the problem was/is. In fact, our RW was at the dealership for 75 days for warranty work and they hardly did anything. GADS! Another item is the rear compartment; near the ladder, leaks when it rains. Have you had this problem? Shortly after we took delivery, we noticed the entry door was hanging up, a bit, when you closed it. Upon further looking, we noticed that the factory rivets on the hinges had been replaced. Given this, and taking into consideration the leaking/water issue, we feel something happened to that side of the unit before we purchased it. I have, on several occasions, asked the factory about this, and when they ask the VIN#, mum's the word. Have you ever had the insulated windows break a seal? We have one that has, but is covered under warranty.
