Slide out awnings

I have noticed in many of the pictures I have seen on this forum that not that many have slide out awnings. I believe that slide out awnings prevent debris from getting on top of the slide, and therefore when bring in the slides there would be no debris to get between the slide and the RV. Any comments, pro or con for slide out awnings?
Thanks

We love our slide out awnings, I installed them at a little higher angle than the factory does so we have not water pooling on our awnings.
Have heard very little flapping in the wind but since many times we stay in a lot of CGs with trees, they are great keeping the leaves, twigs and debris off the top of our slides.

I had them put on all three slides love them. I camp in the woods most of the time and can't climb the ladder anymore to check the roof before pulling the slides in.

Thee are those that will never have them again and those that will never NOT have them again... all based on their experience and needs...

They would help with debris,
and they certainly will help with the sun heating up the slide,

Properly maintaining them is the key..

Once the motorhome with full wall slide NEXT to us kept us awake from the constant flapping at night theirs was so loose...

I like ours except like today. We live in the country by a large pasture and the wind started blowing about 3:00 am and it is still blowing. The awning has been blowing and I'm worried that they will tear and be gone.

I think the Rvs look much more classy with them but they add another maintenance item that is sure to be replaced within 8 years. I chose not to have them after seeing too many problems that others have experienced.

I'm surprised someone hasn't designed a better system.

Between wind tearing them up and rain stretching them, there seems to be just as many aftermarket gadgets out there to correct the issues they cause as there are any benefits to us.

Regions make a difference I suppose. We are typically open areas with gusty winds. Southern areas may experience different benefits.
