Silverware oxidizing

Crazy question but has anyone experienced silverware showing discoloration/oxidation in the island drawer of their new Redwood? Has us wondering what's causing this.

If you have a residential fridge with ice maker, you might want to see if you have a pinhole leak in the ice maker tube. Check for other leaks.

when you say "silverware" do you mean it as the generic meaning "cutlery". What is the metal of the utensils.

Nothing personal...but that is one of the craziest questions I've ever heard.

Are you storing any strong cleaning chemicals nearby. What quality is the "silverware"?

Cutlery is 1/8 stainless steel. Chemicals stored bottom of island are a gallon of bleach & dish soap, nearly same area configuration as our house. Ice maker was to be disconnected at dealer. Unit was winterized @samed but we discovered ruptured line for ice maker under tanks when we got south on our trip.

Unusual question I agree....as an isolated item merely an odd nuance but when added to the growing list of "nuances" it raises the question whether our new unit fits the "lemon category "!

Will cap ice maker hose. Thanks for reply.

stainless should not do that. Also the RV antifreeze I don't think will do it also. For me is it possible the bleach??? If the cap or the seal is not 100% fumes are mas bad as the actual liquid in a closed area.

Probably the bleach, chlorine is VERY corrosive. In your home it most likely had the 2 cabinets separated by a solid divider in the cabinetry, rvs are all combined in one box so to speak. Move the bleach & see if it stops. I built a shed years ago to store pool chemicals & lawn equipment & the chlorine rusted up every tool in the building & it was in sealed containers.

+2 with Danny ~ I'd seriously suspect the bleach. That is a banned substance on our rig ......... long story and not repeated.

Here's a thought: In the drain pipe for the sink, where it heads into the belly, just behind the spice drawer on our unit. There is a fitting approx 1/2" D at a 45 degree upward angle which I guess is the drain connection for the Dishwasher. Well on ours there is no cap on that fitting and it's open into the drain line allowing fumes, moisture and at time water into that area under the Island. The drawer slides on that side are rusting badly and the only thing I can see is that open fitting, so ours is now capped.

Good point about the dishwasher drain fitting. But I don't think it is really open. When I installed our dishwasher I had to progressively drill larger sizes thru the end of that fitting as a plug or fitting was glued into the end of it. If it was open you would have the tank smells in your coach as it would be venting in there. Ours had a Hepvo drain fitting from the kitchen sink and dishwasher drain and not your typical 'P trap' to allow water to drain without the smells from the tank. If the tanks were flood checked properly at the factory, water would have come out the dishwasher drain fitting.

I can assure you, ours was OPEN, stuck a pencil all the way to the far side of the drain pipe. I had assumed it was closed internally until needed, but found out differently when I didn't realize the Galley tank was full and water was running out that connection flooding the area under the Island.
