Setback thermostat

Tried to find this answer in search but couldn't sorry if it has been discussed. Can I put a night setback thermostat on our 38GK.

Most, if not all, residential thermostats operate on 24 VAC. Most, if not all, RV thermostats operate on 12 VDC. You will need to research to see if there are are any RV (12 VDC) thermostats that feature the programmable capability to do the desired setback feature.

What a great RV accessory. Can't believe nobody has invented it yet. I might do some digging... I would love to have that.

Yes, it has been invented but.....
Newer models of our last rig came with one, it was the envy of several of us until we found out that......the retro fit required a new controller board in the unit (several hundred $) plus the cost of a new thermostat. Way to expensive for the retro.

Also, the programming (and UI) was horrible. Apparently if you set the heat to come on in the am, you would have to start all over to run the ac. None of the settings were retained. Bottom line is that it really didn't work.

Sure would be nice though!!!

Like many things, sometimes technology isn't better yet... I can click the temp down before bed I guess. :-)

LOL... well without incriminating us meno-women... sleeping with the heat down and warming in the morning would be IDEAL. I would love that. Todd would love it because he freezes to death with the window open and the snow blowing in on his face... haha. It's always a cold walk to the thermostat each morning! I won't even COMMENT on midnight frigid bathrooms!

I am DEFINITELY reading between the lines as it's the same condition at our house, except it happens many more times than once a night !

(Both conditions you are alluding to )

I'm like, ya know, getting rid of two or three of those blankets you use might help !!! but NO !!!!!

hahaha JB2. NO COMMENT! This is a NO WIN debate, for sure.
"I can't sleep because YOU keep getting up all night!"
"I keep getting up because it's so COLD in here and it makes me have to use the bathroom!"
"It's cold in here because it's HOT in here!"
"Only YOU think it's HOT in here!"
"YOU have no idea what I THINK!"
{{{etc}}}
Like that? LOL!

The other problem I've found is that of the ones that do exist, none of them are black in color. They would look awful in the RV IMHO.

That being said I sure would like to have one in mine. It seems I spend a lot of time during the day managing the temperature controls of the existing thermostats. It makes me even more neurotic that I already am...
