I am considering adding a satellite dish to our 36FL. Looking for advice, especially from other Canadians, on the reception from Expressvu or Starchoice when in the US, especially southern states. Is the reception acceptable or do you sign up for Directv or Dish Network.

We currently use Shaw cable at home so we are not locked into a specific satellite provider.

Oriana, we have a 36FL and we had a Wingard slim line satellite installed for Directv. I have no idea about your service but if you plan to use Directv in the States I would recommend you purchase the Wingard slim line satellite made for Directv. It is a one button push operation. Our master control is in the bedroom, power on, satellite sets itself up and in less than 5 minutes you are receiving stations.

Thanks John - The Winegard is one of the systems our dealer stocks and from the research I have conducted is our preference. Just need to select a provider. Based on the coverage mapsour Canadian providers may require a bigger dish in the southern states, especially when the new satellite comes online in 2013.The Dish and Directv mapsshow excellent signal strength across both the US and southern Canada.

Oriana, also when you get it installed make sure it is cabled to operate multiple TVs on different stations at the same time, Mine is wired to operate 4 TVs at the same time all while watching different stations (had dealer install a drop in the basement for easy connect for outside TV during football). Directv may have a new box that fits on the roof that allows this action to happen without running multiple cables. You may want to check that out.
