Replacing my Thermostat

Last winter while I was working on my trailer I knock the thermostat cover off the wall in the bedroom. I didn't think I did any harm to it but today I found that I did. Before I replace this with another one to match the original, does anybody have any thoughts of up grades. Is there something better out there that anybody knows of?

I was wondering that too, but never pursued it.

Do they actually have RV ones that you can program, similar to ones for S&B?

Dave,
I had looked into it with our Montana as the newer models had a programmable thermostat. Even though they were the same manufacturers, it required a new logic board costing a few hundred dollars plus the new thermostat. I dropped the idea.

Montana uses Dometic and they were pretty sophisticated with both ACs running through the same thermostat and remote temperature sensors.

I don't think these Coleman's are quite that sophisticated, but I don't know for sure. Seems like Honeywell universals can tackle about anything. Our S&B has a heat pump/AC/ and gas furnace with a Honeywell programmable thermostat, so it should have similar logic to the RV, but again I never pursued it further.

Brad,
You're right. I haven't seen my rig in a while and forgot that it had 2 thermostats unlike the Montana's one.

I questioned the heat pump setting when I set the stat to electric only and the furnace ran. I was told that if there is more than a few degrees between the ambient temp and your setting, the furnace would supplement the heat pump. Still it makes me wonder if a S&B thermostat would work.

My house thermostat is like that too (we have a heat pump). If it's REALLLY cold in the house, the regular furnace kicks on to get it warm quick, then the heat pump takes over, so this makes sense to me.

No, they never did.
And should you or any of your IMF force be caught or killed, the secretary will disavow any knowledge.

There are many reports that Apple will unveil a set of home automation products including thermostats that will be controlled by an IOS device. This could be very compelling if their is good power management and alerting. The announcement could be as soon as next monday during the keynote speech at the WWDC developers conference.

Here's one of the reports: Apple planning iOS-controlled smart home automation platform for WWDC unveiling

I think I already saw some ads for that.

Lippert actually advertised a full automation system called Linc Pad and ironically it was a Redwood used in the video. The idea was they gave you an Ipad and you could move slides, awnings, start generators, turn on lights, etc. from a mini-ipad. We inquired - (Even though we would have to submit ourselves to the apple cult), but we were informed it never flew as a product, at least as an OEM.

Wouldn't a quick call to AirXcel solve this question? I'm betting that a standard S&B programmable thermo would work fine for the non heat pump units. Betting you could get something to work for those as well. My biggest issue is finding one that's black in color. A white or almond unit would look really funny IMHO.
