Replacement diesel tanks

The other week I stated that I had added a 51 gallon tank in place of the stock Ford tank. The question came up about the onboard computer , and it's accuracy . . . here are the pics from todays fill up - - my computer says I used 18.9 gallons since last fill up... the fuel pump is showing that I put in 18.3 gallons... close enough for me !

yes . that's ok with me.. I keep the truck on that screen while towing , that way I have a pretty accurate judgment as to when I will have to fuel up . . .

I keep the same screen up on ours all the time too. I'll be adding the Titan tank in the spring. Can't remember the size on the Dually ~ think it goes to 67 gal but not sure. I've got other things in the bed and don't want to mess with a separate tank for fills and such.

Oh ~ and I paid $209.9 for Diesel here in suburban Baltimore last week ... Didn't think I'd ever see that price again in my lifetime.

Vaughan, I filled at King Soopers fillup and it was $1.98 gal with discount! Yippee!

However - all for not in this hellacious headwinds across Nebraska I cut it real close and was sure wishing I had options such as a second tank, or even my 5 gal diesel in the back.

Had the same situation happen to me on a trip to Albuquerque. I had planned to stop at a gas station I had stopped at before. The last time when I stopped I still had a quarter tank left, but this last trip we hit some pretty bad head winds. I watched my fuel monitor counting down the miles I had left until it just stated "low". When this happened, I just knew we were going to run out of fuel, and I began preparing my story I was going to tell my wife after we ran out of fuel. My wife did notice we were low on fuel when the truck chimed, so I know she was watching the situation. How we made it to the gas station I will never know, but of course I played it off with my wife and told her I planned it this way

When my 08 GMC hits the last warning and the needle is on empty, I can go 20-30 more miles and still only put in 22-23 gallons. GM says it is a 34 gallon tank. I think I put 26 in it once.

Had a Titan 62 gal tank installed on my Chev. Dually a few years ago. Best investment that I made. Peace of mind on long trips not worrying about where to stop for diesel & if you'll have problems maneuvering thru the gas station. You'll love it.

That would really bug me. Sounds like a bad design between the sender operation and the gauge.

Mark, your 08 sounds like the 05 I had, I think it had the wrong tank installed everything said it was a 34 gal but never put in more than 26 even when gauge read empty.

Nope, the tanks are correct. That's the way they work. You don't want to run them out.

I too put in a Titan replacement tank, best investment ever. It keeps the bed clear for our truck camper

We also have a truck camper. Just never got around to a bigger tank.
