Thumbs down Redwood customer service

I called the REDWOOD Customer Service Phone number approximately 3 weeks ago to ask a simple question!

Question: How long is the water line that runs from the sink to the Ice Maker in the residential fridge?

Pretty simple question, Right?

Apparently Redwood Customer Service Reps are too lazy to find out the answer! Since the customer service center is in the same building that Customer repairs are done, you would think it would be easy to get off their lazy butts and go back and ask a technician.

The standard GENERIC Answer I get when calling Redwood is: You have to contact the dealer and ask them! TOTAL BS! CUZ guess what? My dealer is going to have to call Redwood and get the information anyway!

REDWOOD Customer Service in TOPEKA is HORRIBLE!

THIS WILL BE THE LAST REDWOOD or CROSS ROADS Product we invest in again!

Simply terrible Customer Service.

And since I contacted them 3 weeks ago, they still have not responded to my request, even though they said they would!

I'm not sure that is an easy question to answer - I'm sure they pull that off a roll and route it, but never really bother to measure it. I ran wiring for years, and I don't recall ever being able to say how long the wire was other than pace it off. I'm not sure you had a fair question.

I agree with Brad . . if they measured all runs placed in these coaches they would never get done... Just make an appointment with the dealer, It's under warranty...

Send a message via AIM to NW Snowbirds
I helped replace the ice maker water supply line in two 36RL units and it required a 20 ft braided stainless steel ice maker line acquired at Lowe's.

I would just buy the pre-made braided stainless steel line as previously mentioned. You can always loop what you don't need if it's too long. BTW...I replaced mine a year ago...no more leaks!

Thanks Bob:

I purchased 2 packages of the Reinforced Ice Maker Water Line from Lowes. $13.00 for 20 foot packages. This will give me ample length to fix the CRAPPY CHINESE water line all the RV manufacturers use. This line is rated at 1200 PSI and it should permanently FIX the problem of water line leaks.

Plus, I won't be attacked by other members, who think I'm being unfair to REDWOOD Customer Service!

Don't say all RV manufactures use - stick to what you know.

Take a real hard look at what you buy... Almost every thing is now made in China or India and packaged in Canada or USA.

I do go with what I know. RV Manufacturers will use the Cheapest products available to them. Most of the junk they use is made in China or Korea or India. Shipped to the US and Canada and marketed that way.

Redwood made a change on that hose, and it had bad consequences. When we bought our 2014 (made in 2013) no one on the forum ever reported a problem with that line, nor did we ever have problems with ours. Shortly after, started seeing two or three complaints a month - they must have went to a different supplier.

With that, there is better tubing out their and not necessarily stainless braid. Ours is a white pex type 1/4" tubing rather than the nylon.

The first thing that I did after purchasing my 39MB was to shutoff the ice maker & turn off its supply line under the sink after reading about supply line leak issue(s). Buy a bag of ice on trips & keep in freezer. Potential problem solved.

We did a similar thing. Purchased a portable ice machine at Camping World. Make up several bags of ice and put them in Freezer. Works very well. I will get the ice maker water line fixed with a stronger one, but will probably just keep making ice and freezing, since the ice maker in the Residential Fridge does not make that much ice anyway.

Update on Customer Service.

While my opinion on Redwood Customer service has not changed, I did receive a call from Topeka, Redwood Corporate, Owners Services Rep.

I told him about the problem I was having with Customer Service and he had the answer for me. It takes approximately 20 feet of Water Line to go from the kitchen sink valve to the Refer Ice Maker. Answer received!

So for those who thought I posted an "UNFAIR QUESTION" to Redwood Customer Service (It wasn't). Redwood gave me an answer that the Customer Service REP, should have or at least made an attempt to find out.

hahahaha, the only reason the Rep knew 20ft was because he read Snowbirds post #4 on the forum.
