Max air fan controller

My bedroom fan will not work. I have swapped controllers with no change. Any ideas? Sorry I can’t rotate this but you have the idea.

Did you check the breaker or fuse in your converter

Motors can fail. Wire crimped terminations can fail. Wire clamp terminations can become loose.

The fan motors operate from the 12 VDC source.

Check that fuse is good.

Get a multimeter and check for 12 VDC at the the motor terminals when you set the control to run the motor. If no 12 VDC, then a break in the 12 VDC power circuit.

Remove the motor and connect directly to a 12 VDC battery. If motor does not run, then failed motor.

Our Kitchen Max Air Fan was acting strange about 2 years ago. Would increase fan speed but wouldn't decrease using the controller pad. Also would not open up and run, but if I manually cranked it open it would work. Took the shroud down and inspected the wiring. There is a rj45 type plug on the board of the fan. The cable looks to be 8 conductor like Cat 5 or Ethernet cabling. The wire was pulled so tight that it was being pulled out of the receptacle on the fan board. The factory zip tied the wire so tight to a roof rafter that I could barely tug on the wire to make it have good connections in the receptacle. No more problems since. Only took removing 4 screws to locate the problem.

I belive Maxair uses brush style motors , they sometimes will start working if you hit them . the brushes stick or the armature in the motor gets dirty where the brush rides. give the motor a hit and spin the blades.
