Lippert Steps??

We have a 40' 2012 Redwood 5th wheel and thinking about upgrading the steps. My husband is disabled and has a hard time walking and going up and down steps. He weighs almost 300 lbs. We were thinking about installing the Lippert steps. If you have these do you like them? Do you think it would help my husband to get in and out of the camper easier since they are more solid? Thanks.

The swing down "rigid" type steps are an improvement stability wise....once set-up they are easier to climb than the regular fold out rv step system....also little or no "bounce" I noticed....another benefit is a better hand rail system can be attached to these type of steps....which could be a real help to someone struggling.....Once installed they do have an "assist" to take some of the weight when you either lift them to stow....or are lowing them in place....We do not have these on our unit....but I could really see their value especially if you are reasonably stationary...I may look into a set for our trailer in the future as my knees are not great after a life time of trade work...

We had the regular style aluminum steps and they were basic steps with play and bounce..

We then moved to the Morryde, fold down steps and noticed a HUGE difference!

We then moved to the new Morryde strut assisted steps and they are second to none....

What makes them so much better is the piston that helps the steps up and down.... The Lippert version is , ( I BELIEVE ) almost identical...

I believe that BOTH versions allow you to add a railing going up the steps to assist in climbing or descending the steps.

The Lippert steps are great! However, for those that store you may find yourself in a spot you can't get in because there isn't enough room for the steps to open. My buddy just found that out with his new 5er when he put it in the garage.

The same it true for some Rest Stops in the Interstates. We stopped at one last Fall on our way South that there wouldn't have been room to lower them.
