level up panel will not turn on

Went out to open up the trailer for the first time. It has been plugged in for about a week and the batteries are fully charged. Pushed the on/off button on the level up control panel and nothing happened. pushed it a bunch of times and it came on, but nothing else would work it wouldn't turn off. Finally decided to cycle the battery switch to see if I could reset it, but now it won't turn on again no matter how many times I push the on/off button. I've done a google search and apparently there is a separate 10 amp fuse near the pump, but I don't expect that is the problem since it came on once. I'm going back out now to find the fuse that is associated with it. Hope someone can help.

Well i couldn't find the fuse. Tried to turn it on again by just holding in the button. it came on, but still can't get any other buttons to work. I'm fearful the panel switches have gone bad somehow

on my RL there is a inline fuse in the front hatch next to the battery. On the right side there is 6-8 in line breakers and tapped off the top side of the bolts there is a automotive style blade fuse. check for voltage at this point .

Nope nothing there. I searched high and low in the battery compartment, there are no inline fuses there. Checked all the connections tight, nothing was loose. All the fuses in the distribution box are fine. I'm convinced it is not a power problem. After repeated pushing on the on/off button I can now get the panel to turn on, then repeated pushing on the up arrow I can get it to cycle through the various modes, even the voltage which said 13.7. I tried same technique on the front legs they will not actuate, neither will the down arrow, or the enter button. I am convinced the keypad has gone bad, go figure. I took out the 8 screws and half heartily tried prying the enclosure off but it doesn't budge. I stopped as I don't want to break anything. I looked for access panels and found none. I have sent an email off to Lippert, I hope they can shed some light, or someone here has some words of wisdom. Not planning a trip in the near future but would sure like to get this resolved. Talk about Achilles heel, one small panel takes down the whole trailer.

Similar thing happened to me. The panel pops out of the frame and there are a couple of wires attached with a little harness. I disconnected it and the replugged in. Got it to work for a short while, but ended up getting a new panel with Lippert. Take a pic of the the panel, call them and they should exchange it.

exactly how does the panel pop out? just the panel or the housing with the door on it?

Of course you have to flip the coach onto the roof to do this

I saw that. it should, I figured that little slot was for prying it out. I was not desperate enough to give it a try yet. I'll give it a try now. thanks. Lippert wrote back and said disconnect for 15 minutes and if it still doesn't work the panel will need replacing

OKAY popped it out and disconnected like Lippert email said. Connected back up and got error message that I couldn't acknowledge or turn off the panel. I also went out and bought a new deep cycle battery because mine were old and I was suspect of them, didn't make a difference. Now I have no battery worries. So I hopefully I'll have a new panel on the way. Would sure like to know the failure mechanism. It's not like this thing is on all the time, I've probably only used it 30-40 times per year. My trailer is only 4 years old.

Lippert sent me the link to order a new panel. Can't believe the part costs $262.00. Can't move the trailer without it. WOW. They said they have updated the panel. I sure hope they made it more durable. Had to re-do the because after I placed the order, you can set up an account, which I did. They sent me a welcome email with a 10% code, so I went back and was able to re-order and apply the discount.

Glad you found the part easy!!!! Hope it works. Ours acts up also every now and then but is still working.
Would you mind sharing the link here?

Sure here it is

https://store.lci1.com/ground-contro...ad-421484.html

They wrote in the email that the touch pad has been updated. It looks different but operates the same. and they changed the design so they are the same across the board

I would really like to know how many of these touch pads are failing and what exactly causes the failure. They aren't in a particularly rough service. And they aren't cheap. Lippert provided no information.

I've asked for voltage information for the 4 pin connector so I can make sure I have nothing else going on like mouse damage.

I have my new touch pad but have not connected it because the voltage reading I got between the green and red wire was battery voltage not the signal 5-7V Lippert first told me it should be. When i wrote them that they said all the voltages were correct???? So now I don't know is green to red battery voltage or signal voltage 5-7V

this is what the first told me:

Green is ground wire
Black is power wire and should have 12 volts plus
Red is signal wire and should have 5-7 volts
Yellow is signal wire and should have 5-7 volts

I am worried I'll fry my new $270 touch pad if I plug it in.

Well my saga continues. I am now told that my controller needs to be replaced. That's another $727.00 not including shipping that I have to spend. What is wrong with these Lippert components? I thought Lippert was a good company, providing quality RV parts. I'm fed up!

Maybe you don't need the new panel after you replace controller and Lippert will take it back and refund $$$$

Update. Lippert sent me new control panel at no cost, I am very appreciative of that. I finally got a chance to get out to the trailer and install, wasn't looking forward to bending my way up above the generator housing through the battery compartment, but it wasn't all that bad really. 2 torx screws and old one came out and new controller installed. I connected the new touch panel that I bought and walla it worked. I hope this never happens again, especially if we are camping, don't know what I would do.
