Info on 1100watt Invertor with Residential Fridge
My question on this is why does it run when the shore power is connected. I thought it just runs when on battery as it is turning 12 volt power into 120 volt power for the fridge only?

If yours is like mine, a Magnum, mmx-1012, it is a combination unit with a built in transfer switch. This means when it senses shore power (110 vac-or generator), it turns off the inverter and passes the power through. When it does this, the "converter" kicks in providing 12vdc to charge the batteries.

What is the Remote Display telling you?? When mine is Inverting I get the scrolling screen saying "Inverting, then battery voltage and the current being drawn from the batteries". When on shore power it just reads the Battery voltage and state of charge, bulk, float, or full charge.

When I'm on shore power I manually turn the inverter OFF. When traveling, I turn the inverter ON for fridge. Am I doing something wrong ?? ......... I was told to do it this way at my PDI.

Once it's on, it can be left . When on shore power it will pass the 120VAC directly to the Fridge, once disconnected from shore power it will begin inverting the 12VDC to 120VAC to run the fridge.
Now that is provided it's setup that way, that's how I have ours setup.

Soooo if I keep the inverter "on" while hooked up to shore power at home (in storage) and there is an EXTENDED power outage...... that means that the inverter could possibly deplete my battery(s) ............. am I right ??

It well depend on your battery bank. I just added two more batteries giving me approx 400 AmpHours of battery. Just ran a test of 36 hours on just the batteries with the fridge running and only dropped the voltage a couple tens of a volt. So with 4 good batteries and very limited use of anything else we should be able to go 2 to 3 days easy. Any power outage that long, we'd be running the genny a few hours a day to keep the batteries topped off.
