Indoor humidifier

Anyone have experience with a portable humidifier for use in an RV?

We have been in AZ and other desert states for some months now and get stuffy and bloody noses, dry skin, cracked feet, static shocks etc.

Have heard humidifiers in RV as a bad idea, but lots of thought are just thoughts.

Anyone here at the forum with great ideas or experience?

Everything I know about RV's that would not be a good idea. In a RV you want to take out all the moisture you can at all times. Little dab of Petroleum Jelly in each nostril once or twice a day for the nose, lotion for dry skin and cracked feet and extra dryer sheets for static socks.

Here in the PNW we run a Dehumidifier all winter to suck out the moisture. We have the same issues and I follow the above ideas and no issues and no moisture in the RV. Good Luck

Why would this be the case? What difference would it make if they towed it to Houston or Florida with 80% Humidity. The air conditioner would knock it down some. But adding a little humidity while sitting in Arizona would not seem to be an issue.

I guess my question is: What components in the RV would be or could be harmed by a Humidifier?

JMOI everything I have been told about a RV is to keep them dry at all times. For the last 20 years that we have had a RV we have followed this rule. But if he wants to add humidity its his trailer.

I read up a little on the subjekt last night. Since we were at an altitude of 8000 ft and the temp was down to 7 fahrenheit I think that was extreme. Now in Vegas and already feels better!

Thanks for your answers.

There is a balance. Ultimately you are avoiding mold. If it gets to close to 0% humidity here in the winter, it actually starts damaging caulking, furniture, and wood in the house and it can sure build some static charge.

We humidify our home in the winter to about 25%, but we can also over humidify if we are not paying attention. I don't think RVs are any more susceptible to humidity than a home, just more persons per sq ft creating humidity in an RV than in a home.

I think it makes perfect sense to add moisture in extremely dry environs; that's why they have humidifiers. They work great for kids...why not people.

If moisture is bad I'll have to stop DW from taking showers cause she steams up the entire upper level.

If you take yours with her, you could cut the problem in half..

That shower steam actually worries me - I'm sure to run the fan on at least medium exhaust when showering. That stuff can even turn the ceiling to a different color.

Is the rainsensor fan in the bathroom standard on Redwood, or did I add that as an option. I don't remember.

I must have ordered it then. It's wierd because it says exhaust only, where the others don't say that.

We have three MaxAir fans in our MB, the Kitchen and Bedroom are both reverse-able, while the bath is exhaust only (would be simple to install a reversing switch).

Same here. I close the bedroom door and door leading into the kitchen. Then turn on the fan near the shower and sometimes the fan in the bathroom also. In my last motorhome, the curtains in the front of the coach got water stained mostly from not using the fans during showering.
I don't believe the rainsensor is a standard option in the bathroom area. I believe it is standard in the kitchen.
