Have a rat problem

We have two rats in the under belly. They seemed to be under the back cap and the kitchen island. Pest control will come out and poison them. Then I would have to try to find them when they died. Anyone have any ideas???

Sorry to hear this. This is one of the reasons I never leave my sewer hose connected. That hose ends up being a sidewalk for all sorts of pests.

The underbelly of the unit will come off easily with a drill. I'd take it down and start looking around. The good news is, that once that's all down you can do some modifications with insulation and expandable foam.

As I've said before, we've used the sonic pest control (bought at Ace Hardware) plugged in the basement for 3+ years now & not so much as a spider or ant, I paid $10+/- 3 years ago now they're $25+/-, but it works. I also spray inside/outside with Ortho Home Defense very time we move to a new location, yea I know that won't repel rats, but it helps with bugs.

i have used a similar sonic control unit for years with success. We have 3 plugged in the unit. I would not use poison. If the rat happens to die in a place you can't get to it will stink for 6 months till it dries up. Use traps and i would drill a hole in the base so you can tie it to something. I have seen a rat not die immediately and take off with the trap then die.

There is an available outlet where the vacuum plugs in behind the basement wall which makes a good spot for sonic pest control. just leave it in there and it comes on whenever you have a power source.

I had a problem with mice a couple of years ago in my SOB and had a guy show me a trap using a 5 gallon bucket. Run a straight heavy wire across the open top of the bucket, then screw a couple boards to each side of the bucket to make a ramp up to the top edge. Take a beer or soda can poke a hole in the center bottom and top to put the wire through set the can in the center so it spins and cover it with peanut butter. Last some RV anti freeze in the bottom of the bucket for drowning. 2 set up 27 mice later and just like that the problem is gone. Guess the farmers have used this method for years and it worked. Not sure if it would work on rats as they might be to big. Mice though works awesome......

I got mine at Ace Hardware. Don't think you'd need 3, mine said said it good for 1200-1500 sq ft if I recall correctly.

Tied metal braided fishin leader cable and metal barrel crimps , wire to victor pro rat trap with fresh peanut butter mixed with bacon grease works every time

The gophenator in port aransas tx told me some of his trade secrets

Rodents r creatures of habit they will run outside edges of openings along there scent trail place trap treadle across path
Effective

Victor pro grade trap has a larger treadle than demon HD specials
Ace hardware or e bay or maybe tsc has smaller mouse versions
Look for knawed opening as they must have a water source too foam it
