Angry Furance Questions

2013 36 FL, my furance cycles often before reaching setpoint is this normal? We skipped Fall here in TX, it was 85 F Sunday and 40 F Monday mornng

It may be cycling on the high limit switch. Check the burner exhaust for obstructions. Maybe a wasp nest or something blocking it. Check ductwork and inlet grill for obstructions too, but obstructions there will generally give the sail switch something to complain about.

We should have the same model furnace but if not, disregard these suggestions. The most important thing I've learned about furnaces was that this service training manual has a lot more information than you can get from the typical manuals. Check out the troubleshooting table and you'll find your answers. The previous post was right on... but you may need this manual anyway.

I had to have something changed on our 2012 last fall. It was some kind of tube where it burns the fuel. There are supposed to be a bunch of little holes in it and ours had burned some big holes in it and the fuel was not burning correctly.

also check for a the return air path , you may have some restriction on that side. On our RL38 the return vents are in the stairs risers. Check for Bees making a nest in the tube , this isn't all that uncommon if its parked for any length of time in one spot.

I have an FL36 and the first time I powered the furnace I had the same issue (not saying this is happening to you). They installed a furnace exit duct below the thermostat. I have a 2014 FL36 and they may have changed that, I hope. But whenever the furnace came on, the hot air would flood the thermostat and cause it to shut off even though it was still quite cool in the trailer. It would then restart and basically shut itself off again and repeat this until the final temperature was reached. The solution was to block off half the vent to direct the air away from the thermostat.
