Brad,

When we bought our 2012 36RL in 2011, the convection microwave was an option. If we ever replace the unit we have, I suspect we will consider a convection type oven of a different brand.......that is if the dimensional size is the same.

Our 2014 does not have the convection Microwave, it was a option on ours.
One FL we looked at had the convection Microwave, but it did not have the fireplace and had the early 38FL cabinets which we did not like, the FL we bought had the fireplace and everything else we wanted but did not have convection Microwave, we said we could change it out if it became a issue for us.

Well, looks like if you ever want to replace it - $449 retail from Frigidaire, $330 online stores No special venting beyond the hood vent out the back that I would think, but I haven't actually seen the microwave only version.

Brad - when we had issues with ours our dealer found pricing in Canada of just over $1,000.

I think I remember that Andy, and I hung on to that figure when the extended warranty came up, but I called Frigidaire and other than it being discontinued, the retail was $449 through them. I asked what I would be covering by warranty, and they could still fix it and get parts, but if it needed replaced it would be current model. I figure I'll not worry about a warranty.

Fridge still worries me a bit.

Brad - our dealer had a local appliance chap replace a part and now it works OK. Didn't cost us.

When it dies we will replace with another brand, as we haven't had success with Frigidaire products in the past.

Andy, That's probably what I would do, but I worry about the vent lining up with another brand. It should be in a standard location for an over the range hood, but not sure.

Our last rig convection was replaced 3 times and finally I just stuck in a high end microwave that fit perfectly. However, my wife is now using the convection oven and liking it, so a microwave will never do anymore.
