It happened to me Saturday night. Used the toilet at 10:00 pm before going to bed. Got up at 2:00 am to use the toilet and found the water overflowing the toilet. I am assuming this water had been running for 4 hours. Inside the trailer the water seemed to be contained to the bathrooom and kitchen. I had very little wet carpet, stairs and a little in the bedroom.

There was a lot of water in the basement. The converter and furnace had water dripping over them.

Went under the trailer the next morning and saw water dripping from a lot of places. Removed the belly liner and found soaking wet insulation on 80% of the trailer. Big job to cut out the vapor barrier and remove all the wet insulation

My converter seems to be working and the furnace is working but I do not know for how long.

Set up air movers to dry out the wet areas. Calling repair center Monday morning to turn in a warranty claim.

You would not believe all the water that was in the belly liner and in the insulation under the trailer.

Steve, what model is your unit? When I removed the bellypan on theRL for my flood (broken fresh water fitting) I only sawfoil attached to the bellypan and no batt insulation. Did I miss it??

My trailer is a 2013 36RL. There are two parts to the 5th wheel. The raised portion under the bedroom and bathroom, and the rest of the trailer. When I removed the belly pan under the bedroom and bathroom there was no batt insulation. This was a concern for me because I assumed that the entire floor was insulated.

I then removed the belly panfrom under the living room and kichen. Here I found batts of insulation. This entire area was insulated very well with batts, approx. 5" thick. Unfortunately most of the insulation was soaking wet and had to be removed.

So why is there no batt insulation under the bedroom and bathroom? Maybe they just forgot to put it in my trailer. I have the opportunity to fix it now.

Nothing popped loose. The water supply valve tothe toilet failed to shut off after the toilet was flushed. Normally when you release the foot lever the seal in the bottom of the toilet closes and the water shuts off. In this case the seal closed but the water did not shut off.

the insulation in the bedroom bathroom is supposed to be in the upper floor above the basement?

That just sucks -

Check the cutaway photo on the construction page of the Redwood site. We are supposed to have R14 Flex Foil or R14 batt as per the cutaway view on the bath deck and R42 on the floor with batt and flex foil.

Water..Due to the information posted on the toilet problem I have purchased three water alarms. They set on the floor and activate like a smoke alarm when water touches the metal connections. I found them on Amazon</span> for about $30. Placed one by the toilet, one by the washer and one behind wall in the cargo area. No problems with toilet so far. I also turn the water off when I leave. Sorry to hear of water problems but thanks for the post.

I guess with that, its probably a good idea to shut off the water when you leave. I used to do that all the time after I watched a guys hot water tank let go inside his coach and saw it pouring out the slide, but I've been a little slack. The alarms are only half of it, because they don't do any good unless you're there. I doubt a fellow camper would actually come shut your water off because of the alarm, unless he actually saw water coming out.Edited by: atom ant

We have a routine each time we leave our unit for several hours, we always turn off the water valve.

Happened to us last night. I thought the toilet sounded odd when I flushed at 2 a.m., but the furnace had also kicked on at that exact moment, so I shrugged it off. Luckily, about 5 minutes later I heard water dripping. I think we caught it soon enough - the rug absorbed a lot of the water and I mopped up the rest.

Will contact our dealer today and watch it carefully til we get home.

I went to home Depot after hearing this the first time. I got 3 battery water alarms, one behind the toilet, one behind the washer, and one behind the basement panels in the water distribution area.

Do you have the model number of this Thedford toilet? I'm thinking about just having my dealer swap out Toilets if I have the same model, and prevent this problem altogether before taking delivery. It would be worth an extra $150 to me not to have to be concerned about when this "bomb" might go off. Thanks!
