Dvr purchase

Good Morning everyone, hope you have a great day.
We are looking to purchase a DVR, and wondering anything special we should know, or particular brand, we have always had one but it was through the cable company, and moving around now does not make that possible?

We have a Magnavox (HDD and DVD recorder) and have been happy with it.

Mine have always been through the satellite provider. I now have Hopper by Dish Network. Not sure if that is what you meant.

Deist hopper

We have dish and the vip622 dvr (2). Do you like the hopper and doesn't it use a lot of bandwidth?

I'm a hopper fan! We have it in the Redwood, and the house. The hopper was one of the ways I could get HD to the basement TV as well as the bedroom by installing Joeys at those locations off of coax, rather than trying to run HDMI cabling. The Hopper Joeys make the system transparent from any TV, you can do anything you want independently from each TV, even watch multiple movies off the DVR at the same time.

I must confess - I don't understand your question on bandwidth. Are you talking if we are hooked up to an internet service? as the dish itself has no real limitations on bandwidth I'm aware of.

We have Dish with a VIP722k DVR receiver. Works for us so far. You do need the large oval dish for a DVR.

Or a dome - I used the Roadtrip SD dome on my prior VIP722k with no issues.
