Does anyone use a portable induction burner?

We had been using a portable single induction unit to save on propane. We just store it on top of our counter....that way we can leave our removable countertop on the 3-burner propane cooktop. We loved the ease of using it. But we burned it up, or it quit working after only 1 season. I'm looking at reviews of new ones, and none of them get very good reviews. Does anyone use one, and if so would you recommend the brand you have?

We bought a Max Burton 1800 watt induction cooktop after our visit to the 2014 rally, and have been using it every since. During our stays in AZ during the winter, we use it nearly every day. I've only used the propane stovetop only a couple of times. They're still for sale on Amazon.

We don't even have a Propane Stove, we have a Two Burner Induction Cook Top, brand name True Induction. Is was an option when we ordered out '16 39MB.

Jim & Mary.....Weird that I was searching on Amazon and didn't see that brand. I'll search for it specifically and try to find it. Thanks so much!

We do tend to go off the grid quite a bit, so we don't always have electricity. So we'll need to keep the regular burners, but we don't want to use them any more than we have to. No need to pay for propane when we're hooked up to electricity. :-)

Induction Burner

I bought one made by Faberware over three years ago. It was clearance for $29. Looked on Amazon and was shocked to see the same one for $114. I store it in the oven and have had no issues with it. Having stated that, I would not pay $114 for it LOL!

A word of caution , the Burton unit is designed to be used on a 20 amp rated circuit. Not every oulett in the RV is rated at 20 amps. I was really considering it then I found my kitchen island is on a 15 amp breaker. 1800W = 15 amps , at some point the breakers isn't going to like 100% loaded they are only designed for 80% continuous loads. I end up getting a 1300 watt induction hot plate , Kohls and Amazon has it.

Cooking

About all I do on theinside stove these days is boil water and I rarely need that. I'm using a two burner "Camp Chef" just outside the door for anything I am not putting on the grill. A standard BBQ bottle of propane can last a year and I am almost full time. I probably turn it on 2-3 times a week.

We had the 2fer deal of the "as seen on tv" PIC Gold units, they work great, have used them now for about 4 years & still working. From the time we bought them til we sold the RW, still use them in the house, the only time we uncovered the gas cooktop was to clean under the covers. DW could plug one in on each end of the island & cook away, never tripped a breaker.

We bought a ChefStar so I could get the boiling water tasks out of the coach to reduce some of the heat and humidity. it's 1800/1300 so I can use it on 20A or 15A. It's worked great so far. I've had it since 2016.

My wife bought two nuwaves and loves them. We use it on the island. We've been using them for three years now and no problem yet.

We have two of them: one from Walmart for $30.00 and a Tramontina from Amazon that came with some pot/pans for around $69. I haven't used the propane top for 3 years!
I use the Walmart out side to supplement the BBQ when we cookout. Some day I'd like to rewire the kitchen for 20 amp service and put in an induction cooktop like RW is offering as an option now.

RW, if you have the outlet in the Pantry, you probably could use it to plug an Induction Cook Top into.

Thank you for the link. I'm finally getting back to researching induction cooktops. :-)

That is quite a price jump. The prices are all over the place for induction burners. We're trying to stay under $100. Thanks for your input!

Fortunately, we do have a 20 amp circuit where we intend to use the induction burner. I think that must be a benefit to going to rallies.....you probably get all kinds of good suggestions for RV stuff. We've never been, but intend to one day soon. Thanks!

That's also what we found. We hardly used any propane when we had the induction. Sounds like you do great at conserving!

I've never heard of that brand, but I'm so glad they've worked out so well for you!

I researched every single brand everyone has recommended. There are so many! In the end I went the brand we had before, which I already understand how to use. But this time I bought the extended warranty because it needs to last me more than 2 seasons. Thanks so much!
