Dirt Devil Vac

On our previous Fifth wheel we had a Dirt Devil vac that worked Great. So we were relieved to see on installed on our new RW. However unless we were short changed. There is no power head with this unit. Which makes it almost impossible to vacuum the carpets. Are we missing something? The basic kit came oath a attachment that has a brush which can be retracted. But it is not a power head like our older unit had. Any help here?

I believe they all come without the powerhead. This was a bone of contention some time back.

Would LOVE a power head. Can't vacuum carpets properly and wand to Dirt Devil cracked and broke within a couple weeks of getting rig. Dealer will replace, but still would like power head option also.

I had joined this forum before purchasing our 36FL so I knew ahead of time that they did not come with a power head so the DW kept the power head from the Sabre that got traded in.

We were not happy that a head for the carpet did not come with the RW either. We ordered the "Rug Rat" head and it spins up pretty fast. Seems to do a good job of cleaning. I also broke the plastic extension tube after about 2 uses of the vacuum. Ordered an aluminum one from Amazon when I ordered the rug rat.

Was wondering why the vac. did a "fair" job last night when I used the central vac for the first time on our new 39MB ......NO POWER HEAD ...... gonna order one now. Geeze........ you'd think that Crossroads would include one for the $$$ that we pay for these 5ers !

I was wondering the same thing when I lost suction. Turns out that I didn't properly install the red cover plate (with the inset handle) when I last changed the bag. If that cover isn't installed tightly, you lose suction around the perimeter of the cover. Notice the foam tape along the inside of the cover.

We use a roomba vacuum. Set it at night when we retire and the rig is clean in the morning!

Surprisingly well as a matter of fact. I am always stunned at the amount it picks up. We use one at home too.

We tried two different powerbeads, but it is clumsy and hard to get around with the hose.

Absolute best solution is: Buy the Dyson V6 Animal cordless vacuum cleaner | Dyson store

used it (or the old 59 model) for six months and its "made for" full-time RV:ers! (I am NOT paid to say this!). If I was rich I would give one to each and one of you! Simply the best for a small area. Battery lasts 20 minutes and that happens to be the exact time it takes to vacuum. No cos, no hoses, gets under the recliners front etc.

While at the rally a couple of years ago during the factory tour they indicated the Dyson would replace the Dirt Devil in future RWs, but apparently $500 was too much money.

We bought the Dyson at the recommendation of our dealer. He said that they are much more effective than the Dirt Devil, and would soon be an option from Redwood. We travel with a German Shepard, also known as a German Shedder, and it is amazing how well it works. It's also handy to be able to use in to clean the truck.

I use the rechargeable dyson and love it. Never pull out the other stuff. Too much of a pain.

The DW purchased a rug rat powerhead that runs off the vacuum air. It is small and compact to get in tight spots. Works great. After vacuuming a 5000 sq ft house she doesn't mind using the central vac in the trailer
