? Converter

Good morning all! I'm not getting the use of 110V while pluged into shore power. My Surge Guard says I have 50amps available but is switching to my inverter using my DC why? I'm thinking it could be a bad converter. I would appreciate any suggestions as to why.

You need to understand terminolgy: Converter makes 12VDC from 120VAC, while an Inverter makes 120VAC from 12VDC.
Have you checked the main breakers in the RW Distribution panel?
Where are you reading the 120V on the Surge Guard? Is it a portable unit and you're reading at the post, or a hardwired unit and reading inside the RW.
Do you have the Gen Prep or Onboard Gen, if so it's also possible the Transfer Switch may have failed.
These are a few starting places.

Yes I have checked the breakers and all was ok. The Surge Guard is hard wired in the RW and the interior display is where it's two legs show good voltage. Yes there is a onboard generator. Also when hooked into shore power the battery charger isn't working.

If you have 110VAC when the generator is running, but nothing without the gen running but you are still on shore power, I agree with Michelle and Ann, the transfer switch is stuck or failed. It should be on the bulkhead up behind the batteries in a large black box.

The reading on the Surge Guard all comes down to how it's installed, before the Transfer Switch or after. Quite often they're in the shore line before the xfer switch because of issues of the Surge Guard playing nice with the Generator.
When on Generator power with both ACs running are you reading a current draw on both legs??

Michelle: I notice you have an induction cooktop listed on your RW. We have a couple of induction "hot plates" that I love. Did you swap out your gas stove?

is your surge guard before or after the transfer switch??
from what i'm reading it sounds like it is after the transfer switch? Yes?
that means you are protected from both sides gen and shore?? Yes?

if you say yes to the above is there power coming from the surge?
is your battery switch on?? i have 2 battery switches one for the electronics and one for the inverter. as we can leave the unit unplugged for extended periods. if one is off it messes up the inverter brain.

if no and the surge is only protecting from the shore is it possible there is a problem with the shore? are you sue it is correct??

had same problem, Your relay switch is bad. Mine was replaced under warranty but cost $50.00. If your game replace it yourself cost a little more but no wait for repair at dealer. Purchased a spare just in case for $150.00 online.
