Our awning is black with grey stripes. Our Norcold 12cuft is not frost free.

Add the Fridgemate Fan system and besides cooling better, there is very little frost build up. Was well worth the $100 or so and 20 minutes to install it.

Easy install. Go to www.smartrvproducts.com and what you want is the Fridge Fix.
Takes up very little room and works like a champ.

One thing - the instructions have you drilling a hole for the power lead. I routed my power lead down thru the drain hose instead. I just didn't want to drill a hole in case I wanted to remove it later.

Does it keep the freezer from freezing up or just the fins in the fridge?

Makes the fridge cool much more efficiently, stops virtually all the frost on the fins in the fridge and much less if any frost in freezer.

Just installed mine today. Longer reading the instructions than installing. Went through the drain tube as well. Hope it helps frost buildup and runs cooler.

The freezer will still get frost, but I think it happens slower with the fan kit. We still find we need to defrost it with a hair dryer about every 3-4 months depending on the climate we're currently residing in.

However the fridge portion has a much more unified temperature than without the fans.

Was warned by LadyE not to use a hair dryer for defrosting, seems the heat can warp the plastic in the freezer compartment...not a good thing!!

We have used the Hair Dryer method for many years, if this is not the right way then how do us Fulltimers defrost the freezer?

Us too ---
guess the ones that had issues using it are the same ones that burnt their scalp from resting the blow dryer on their heads

I've heard to use the rubber mallet and chisel or butter knife, works quick. Won't say who did this and had to buy a new fridge, just to say it wasn't me :-) We also use the hair dryer method since we can't leave the fridge open to defrost long enough.
