Breaking cabinet door latches

I have gone though at least 6-8 door latches. I noticed that the larger catches on our 2 pantry doors haven't broken, but the smaller catches break at the screw heads.

They are: Southco Inc SC-4320 Side-Mount Grabber Catch 10 Lbs. Pull Force, Southco Grabber Catches. Found on Amazon at: http://www.amazon.com/Southco-SC-432...on-and-details

Anyone else experiencing issues with these parts???

Thanks

Ken

Those latches are junk, all of ours have broken, I have replaced them with a different style of latch.

I've replaced several of mine with a different type as well. My latch on the slide-out desk draw broke as well. That one required me to remove the fireplace to get access to the latch.

Is this one of those instances where once RW got their market share they started looking for ways to increase profit? I assume all of you have late model RW's. I have never had a broken latch in my 2012.

Actually I have a 2012. I found the latch behind the desk drawer was poorly installed and not aligned properly, this caused the plastic latch to fair prematurely. The one of the plate drawer latches and another drawer latch failed. I noticed recently the plastic latch on our pantry door is cracked, I will probably have to replace that one in the near future.

For us newbies, this sounds like a part we need to stock in our repair kit. What have you found for better latches?

I ordered the cabinet push latch from here:http: //www.dyersonline.com. It's similar to the one on the desk drawer and pantry on our unit. The standard drawer replacement I used I similar to the original except it has a metal catch instead of the rollers. I believe I purchased them at Home Depot.

Any part number or link or maybe a pic? All I see at Dyers is the same old plastic latch Redwood uses.

I use heavy duty magnetic latches from Home Depot. Much easier to align.

Having some issues with our new GK door & drawer latches. The washer-dryer closet door in the hallway opens up during travel. The catches appear secure. I'm considering a hook to secure the door during travel. Anyone else have a fix for this? Also the Desk-pull out opened up during travel. I discovered the 1 x 2 board below the desk had broken loose on the right side of the cabinet, most likely with the pullout banging in & out. Repaired that with a L-Bracket. Also looking for a more secure fix for this issue.

We use baby latches which work great. These latches are inexpensive and easy to install. We have used them for a few years with out a drawer opening.
