Black Tank Washers

When Ive drained out my black tanks on my 39MB. I was instructed by the dealer to hook up a fresh water hose to the power clean out connection, run for 10 minutes after the black tanks have emptied. This would flush out anything that might still be left in the tanks.

I understand fully the purpose of this system. The question I have is; How do you really know it works? Has anybody ever witnessed the operation and effectiveness of this feature?

I would love to hear peoples thoughts on this feature and how they use this feature themselves. Pro's ,con's and everything in between.

Hook up the water line. Close the g fay tanks and open the black
Turn on water hose. When it is running clearer water out.close black and leave hose running no more than 10 min. Then open black again.i usually do this about 3 times until it is clear water running out.if you do not have buy a 6 inch clear sleeve to put on your sewer outlet and then attach your hose. This gives you a window to see what's coming out. Do not get distracted while filling the tank with the hose. The results are not pleasant

Pretty must the same process here, only step I add, after several refill and drains, I leave the gate valve open, go inside and fill the toilet to the top and quickly step on the pedal, I do that three times in the hope that the sudden rush of a bowl full of water will dislodge anything that might be right below.

Do you notice any more cap come out by filling the bowl up with water. I may start doing that as well

Don't really know, as I'm inside flushing and no one watching, but after doing that, I'll close the valve once more and run 5 or 10 minutes of water from the tank sprayer and generally only get clear water when opening the valve that last time.
I just do it because I figure it can't hurt anything.

I always run a couple of bowls full of water at the end too

Shane, right after I got my unit the indicator lights stopped working. Somewhere on site someone suggested flushing with hot water. I tried this the next time by hooking in at the outside RV spigot near the dump valve and it worked. I do an initial flush with cold water about 5 minutes and hot water for 5 minutes. I check the level indicators with they are working I am none, if not I will do another cold water flush for 5 minutes seems to be the best solution. Right or wrong it works for me.

I just use a clear section on the discharge to verify when it starts running clean between flushing and draining. I flush and drain 3-7 times before I call it clean. I know it is working because of the water flow sound in the tubing - other than that you don't really know.
