Question

What is the max amount you travel with in regards to your back tank? The tank works better if you let it fill up each time but when you're traveling from spot to spot?
I wonder because I ran across a guy who has a 12 RE and his tank dropped and broke loose the output connection which resulted in a messy leak. All the insolation had to be replaced, he said there is not much holding it in there and he was considering adding some cross supports. Any thoughts

I rarely travel with anything in the 3 waste tanks. Today was an exception as I was by myself for 2 days, then off to Sacramento (about 100 miles) to bring the rig in for service. I feel ok when there is just a few days but not much more.

I always dump the tanks before traveling day to day. I do re-charge with a couple of gallons of water and chemicals. If they get more than 1/3 full, I will dump them again if still traveling each day. Normally, we travel for 2 or 3 days max. then stay put for a few days.

I don't always dump mine when hopping day to day - maybe I need to rethink that.

We don't dump our tanks while traveling unless it's a long trip. Will go 3-4 days. We start out with water in the fresh tank and other tanks empty. When we stop for the night, just hook up electric and don't mess with water and sewer. Don't let tanks get completely full but will go to 2 /3. Have done it this way with our last 3 campers. A Montana, Carriage and now the Redwood.
