Overall we are extremely pleased with our 2012 36RL purchased in Dec. 2012. We are currently full-timers and on our first long trip. Unfortunately, we've had to replace 1 tire and looks like we are about to lose another. This time, we want to replace them all - as what came with the 36RL is obviously not holding up.

Not sure if this is an issue with Goodyear or Redwood - regardless, we can't keep replacing these tires one at a time.

It appears from the forum that we need to upgrade from our E to G rated tires. That said, wondering if we should stick with Goodyear???? Has anyone tried Towmasters?? Thoughts???

Last week I called the rim Manufacture. I found out they sold and mounted tires as well. I was able to buy the rims and G14 Goodyear tires and balanced all 4 rims. Everything was mounted the tire pressure to 110 psi. I drove to Indian and picked them up as they don't have a bay to install anything. Very nice people to deal with. I thought the price was worth it. We left for Myrtle beach and have about 1100 miles on them and they rode fine. I have the web site as they have several locations around the USA.

Your current ST Goodyear Marathon tires are made in China, that's the problem. Shame on Goodyear for outsourcing a once great USA trailer tire, and shame on Redwood for using them.

Your Load range G tire should be the Goodyear G614 USA made tire, now standard equipment on Redwood. Towmaster is not a US made tire.

So do I have to upgrade the rims when I upgrade the tires from an E to G?

Affirmative on upgrading the rims to ones rated for 110 psi.

When I had the dealer quote for G rated tires their supplier quoted Towmaster. Research determined they are made in China - wouldn't even consider them. Yet another cheap Chinese tire.

As I understand it, some of the trailers that came with E rated tires had the 110 psi rims. There are other posts on this site that tells how to tell which you have. Check your rims, you may not have to change them to upgrade tires.

The wheels below were the typical Redwood wheel with Marathon LRE tires, and the wheels are rated for 3,500 lbs. (I don't know what the psi rating stamped in the wheel is)

These wheels were used for the G614 option, but may have also been used for the Marathon, depending on inventory. These are rated 3,750 lbs @ 110psi.

if you have the wheels in the first picture, 4 wheels should be about the same price at 1 G614 tire. Check Tredit tire and wheel for pricing and specs. Tredit can also tell you the limitations on the first wheel and what you need to do to inflate to 110 psi. Some have said it's just changing out the valve stem with a higher pressure stem. Typically there is no real test for wheels with regard to pressure or load. The wheels are built to a spec and the load is based on stud size and intended tire market. If you notice, Tredit's specs do not give pressure ratings.

Can't put all the blame on Goodyear. It's a competitive market and they have to do what they can to survive. When we buy tires from their competitor that have outsourced their tires to China so they can sell them cheaper, they have to follow suit to survive. Sometimes we are our own worst enemy. It seems like some outsourced items are coming back to the U.S. Hopefully this will continue.

I completely blame Goodyear. They made the choice to outsource their ST tire to compete with a cheap chinese market, and as a result, they became cheap chinese themselves and I hope they are suffering for it.

Goodyear could have had the only US made ST tire out there and to me that could have put the advantage on their side. I've had USA Marathon's, ran them for 12 years on a boat trailer and when I replaced them with the chinese Marathon I won't go more than a few years now.

Goodyear has pulled back the G614 from the chinese and just in time, as they were loosing their reputation on that one too! I think they are finally once again become the leader and only option for an LRG tire.

The consumer doesn't drive these companies to step to the darkside by competition, these step over there because of their own greed.

Supply and demand...the market always corrects itself over time. If someone builds a product that doesn't have the demand, it'll soon stop.

I've had three blowouts on my 2012 Redwood, two with about $4000 in damage to the area of the trailer with the tires. It is in the shop now for the most recent incident and I am having "G" put on it. Did not realize the tires were made in China, shame on Goodyear. But shame on Redwood for putting them on a bid rig and putting our safety in danger. I reported all of the incidents to the NHTSA and highly recommend that everyone take that step. Goodyear has paid my insurance deductible each time there was damage.

itcmiller - be sure to go with the Goodyear G tires if you still want the Goodyear backing. Some of the other brands aren't going to answer the phone when you have a blowout (like maybe Westlake).

I agree, shame on Goodyear for outsourcing that ST tire. shame on Redwood for using an ST tire, and especially shame on Redwood for undermining their choice to go to G tires as standard by making them Chinese G tires - what a waste.

Putting cheaply made Chinese tires on their coach is risking lives if the owners. We have Goodyear not the substitute and we also have nitrogen in our tires. We still need to get the sensors put on the tires. That us our next add on.

At least Goodyear will stand behind the product and pay for damage. You will never get that from a foreign made product.

Westlake. Hilton likes them better than Goodyear because Westlake = $180 tire, Goodyear G614 = $329 a tire.

We ran Sailun S637 "G" Rated tires on our last 5th Wheel for about 30,000 miles.

They ran cool, wore great and we had no issues with them at all.

Very heavyweight well made tire, and yep they are made in China.

The Sailun "G" rated tire is getting a pretty good reputation from users.

There is another Thor company 5th Wheel that is running them as standard.

The factory is definitely using Westlake tires, as during the Rally factory tour we observed them on 38FL's on the production line.

No tire is fail safe and Goodyear provide good service in the event of issues, so we will stick with the Goodyear G614's. More money, but quality and service cost money.
