Our 2012 36RL (built September 2011) has been connected to shore power (or tow vehicle) virtually 100% of the time since we took ownership. In October 2014, I had the batteries (original two) load tested. They were still able to meet original specifications in terms of cranking Amps as printed on the labels. I think that, so long as the converter is functioning properly, there is no problem with it damaging the batteries.
