Batteries again

My new coach will be here this week!!!

The factory boxes are for two batteries. I will start out with just the two until I find the need to go to more.

So should I get the two deep cycle 12V or two 6V golf cart batteries??

If I decide on the 6v (2) will the jumper lead between the two be a problem when sealing up the factory boxes or is there room to use the jumper and still get the lid on tight? I want to make sure they vent correctly.

Larry, the 6 volt won't fit in the factory boxes. The batteries are too tall.

And you're surprised why ........ .? I've run across very few sales people that were truly knowledgeable.

Agree! The salesman will tell you what you what you want to hear to get the sale. This holds true when purchasing the tow vehicle or the RV!

I do not see the covers on your battery boxes. What do you do to vent the batteries overboard rather than in your basement?

His are in a motorhome, they have ventilated cabinets rather than ventilated boxes.

Battery fumes and the corrosion that it causes is a problem. I think I'm going to convert mine all over to glass.

Oh, I missed that...

In that case I will probably start out with the best 12V I can get and go from there. I have the RV fridge and therefore no inverter (yet) so I could be fine until I install an inverter into the entertainment system.

Several of us used Interstate group 27 or 29 batteries and they worked well. My complaint is the location of the batteries and how hard they are to maintain due to the location. For that reason, I think the dry cell or "glass" batteries might be the best bet in the Redwoods

There are some nice battery boxes you can get for the 6V golf cart batteries. They are wonderful batteries with a long service life and unbelievable capacity. Brenko has photos of his somewhere. You might PM him if you are still considering the 6V.
