ATT Hotspot

Has anyone used the AT&T Wireless Home Phone & Internet plan vs the AT&T Unite Explore AC815S by Netgear (Mobile WiFi Hotspot)? It's a cellular wifi data plan intended for homes, but it's good anywhere you have cell service and offers more GBs for the dollar (25 GB for $40 vs 5GB for the Unite Explore hotspot). I don't see the downside of the Home Phone & Internet plan yet. Has anyone tried it?

I don't use that hardware configuration but I do use my IPhone and the AT&T hotspot. I use it also for work as I VPN into my office. I also travel with a Verzion data card and a cradlepoint router so when one service isn't available, I have the other to fall back on.

My experience has been that for the most part, the AT&T hotspot has provided the fastest and broadest connectivity. Perhaps it's just the places I travel. I have a 15gig plan that includes rollover for unused data from the prior month. It has worked well for me.

I also have been using the HotSpot on my AT&T phone for several years all over the country with pretty good results.

I bit of a wrinkle, I have the AT&T (Netgear) hotspot, use it in the US, and our home phone is Vonage (Canada), they have a free add on called Extensions that makes the smart phone usable throughout North America (on the hotspot) without incurring roaming charges. I take out the SIM card on the phone (because of our high Canadian rates) and use it for internet and phone service here.
