Anybody else have issues with their Norcold tripping the high temp sensor?

I've had this happen twice over the last 6 months. Our Norcold fridge with ice maker would stop working and kick out the error code indicating a "high temp sensor". In both instances the ambient air temperature was relatively low 60' & 70's and in the last scenario it was after dark. I mentioned this to Camping World and since it's not tripped, nothing they can do. I call Redwood and they mention I should call Norcold. Call Norcold and they act like I'm an idiot for resetting and tell me next time go to the dealer. I proceed to explain I fulltime and am at times 2-3 hours away from the nearest dealer and she essentially says "not her problem".

Just needed to vent about that...

Anybody else have issues with their high temp sensor? I would just assume keep a part on hand and fix this myself but the customer support acts like I'm trying to disarm a nuclear bomb and won't help at all.

We had this problem too. DH went on the roof one day and noticed there was a piece of plywood over the vent for the fridge. Removed it and no high temp alarm anymore.

Call redwood back and ask them who received your money ?!?
They are responsible for getting it fixed

?? You won't find a fridge vent on the roof on Redwood I don't believe. They are in the slide on the side, an upper and lower, but there have been some issues with construction blocking the flow on some as reported on the forum.

This should really start and end with Camping World (assuming they are your purchasing Dealer), as they are the ones that have the ability to research the issue first hand. Problem is, I doubt they have anyone smart enough to recognize a refrigerator.

Someone needs to get up in vents and start researching airflow and what the problem is! If Camping World isn't willing, I would be asking them first, Redwood next, for a competent mobile tech to come look at it in place while operating.

Redwood can't really diagnose over the phone, and Norcold isn't going to get out of the chair until someone confirms it's not an installation issue. You need your Dealer to be the liason, or you will have to become your own advocate and start making some calls. It might even mean calling your own mobile rep that you trust to diagnose the problem then throw the bill back at the Dealer. We are forbidden to buy these direct from Redwood- so the Dealers need to step up to the plate and make them right.

I removed the paneling that was restricting 2/3rd of the upper opening a couple of months ago... My fridge quit last night... maybe I shouldn't have? I might add that it is frickin hot here in AL.

I have added the 'fridge fix' fans to the inside of my Norcold 1200 and it definitely helps by vigorously circulating the cold air. Has the added fan or two to the back of the unit for cooling worked for anyone?

I'll second this mod, love ours. However doesn't help with exterior heat issues that cause failures.

I asked our dealer about the partially blocked upper vent, he said to leave the plywood there, it was placed there to prevent rain, etc from getting to the lower portion of the fridge, he said the open area above the plywood is all that is necessary for cooling.
Also asked about the drip hose, why it doesn't protrude thru the vent lie I've seen on many RV's. He told me the Norcold drip hose ends in a drip pan while the Dometic has the tube extend thru the vent to the outside.

When you look at it you might find paneling or plywd that is to force the air flow up through the coils with out that they will get to hot There is also a after market 12 volt fan to help with the air flow it is the same fan put in most pc's

We have a Norcold and the drip hose extends to the outside of the vent.

Well so much for that fact...just passing on what the dealer told me. How bout you other Norcold refer owners, how is your drip hose configured?

Drip pan, which moisture either blows out or evaporates quickly, as only have a water stain & never standing water.
