Adding ac unit
Is there any provision for adding a third AC unit to a 38GK?

third AC
I also am very interested in this as well. 2 AC's will not cut it for this unit. Not when it is 100+ and humid.

The AC units come on early, but by late afternoon it is 90 plus. Poor insulation, large unit, Redwood is asleep at the wheel

Check out the other AC posts on here as it may be a lot cheaper/easier to fix what's already there. It's about an hour job for both ACs & a roll of tape. As opposed to a $1500+ AC & whatever the going rate for labor at your favorite shop.

I still maintain a big part of cooling these units is the full body paint in dark colors, go back to white gelcoat and and it will make a big difference .... Not saying things couldn't have a better design white is a lot easier to cool than dark brown and black.

Agreed, my front closet is a good testament to that, but I still love the colors!

I am thinking of installing a front closet exhaust fan somehow. DEFINITELY gets way too hot in there. I no longer store my chocolate collection in there.

Just be careful with any exhaust - If I leave the bathroom vent on low and forget to close it, the ACs cannot keep up. I'm afraid an exhaust in the closet would do the same.
You are probably better off with better insulation up there (go through the shoe rack) and keep the doors open so that heat can mix in with the rest. If I leave the closet doors open it really isn't all that noticeable. Ideally a supply and return in there would have helped a lot.

You are completely right Brad, just the bathroom fan KILLS the AC efficiency! I like your idea of the return... plus better insulation. Maybe a vent ONLY in the nose cone somewhere-this might also alleviate the TONS of condensation that collects in there too. It's a serious problem for those of us in cooler climates in the winter! VERY bad. I still think they should spray the back of the nose cone with heavy foam insulating material to cut down on this.

Danny, I admit I have not checked on the return problem or duct work problem yet. Due to my RW being in the Dealership AGAIN!!! for very simple warranty work that ends up taking a month each time they get it. After this fix I will check those issues out. But that still doesn't let RW off the hook on a poorly insulated unit and failure to install the AC properly. Just my opinion.

yours in the shop for only a month ?!? Lucky you, ExploreUSA here in dfw area had a bulletin board in the customer area that they changed everyday to put the date your rv will be ready at 6 weeks from today (at a minimum!)

I can't wait to go full time, that while take care of the third unit, move North on the summer, south in the winter.
