A different Black Tank Sensor problem

I've got a Black tank monitor that occasionally reads Empty when it's been a week since last dumped and I know there is now way it can be empty. This is sporadic and most of the time has the correct reading. Does anyone have an idea of how to trouble shoot this?

It sounds like an intermittent wire or terminal. The only place you can get to part of the circuit easily would be on the back of the display panel. Otherwise, it will be a much bigger issue to get to the sensors on the tank. You would likely have to drop the bottom panels to get to the sensors.

FYI .. finally broke down and called the mobile service guy. He pulled the bottom covers and found a loose ground wire on the black tank that resolved the problem.

I don't trust any of the sensors on any rigs. The best way to tell if your black is full is when you flush. If it's full you will get a small amount of back flush and you know it's time to empty.

Yup, that's what I do. Look for the bubble and hope it's a small bubble when you flush.

Your sensors may work now, but give them a couple of month
& they will read false again. This is my 3rd rv since retiring & the black sensors only worked a very short while on all of them. Now just listen when flushing or dump once a week, we've gone 7 days easy without dumping black, but grey won't last that long.

When you get the black tack full, it starts back bubbling. When it first starts bubbling in the early stages, you will know to start flushing very slow, to keep the bubbling to a minimum. I gave up on accurate black tank lights long ago.

After 3 years, our Black and Gray were still working, the Galley generally indicated a 1/3 full when empty.

We finally got our black tank to read 'empty' when it really was empty, but having the same problem as you with the Galley showing 1/3 full when empty. We have her at home and have been filling it up, letting it sit, then draining to see if we can knock some crud off of the sensor.

What does everyone use for the galley tank as far as 'treatment'. We used the effervescent tablets, and I think it's just for smell. Perhaps we should use the same treatment we use in the black tank?

Pine-Sol for me with about 2-3 gallons of water before any trip. I use the nasty, blue stuff (formaldehyde based) in the black tank with water as well. Knock on wood...haven't had a problem yet. But after this post, just wait.
