36RL Thoughts

I currently have a 14 Rushmore, and have a 2015 Redwood 36RL ordered. What's all the 36 RL owners thoughts on this unit? Are the newer units as solid as what the older units seem to be? Any major problems? Pros/Cons?

We love the 36RL floor plan........ we have the slide-in-slide. We can get to 1/2 of the fridg, the bathroom and the bed without putting the slides out.

^ I didn't get the slide in a slide. It looked to me like a good place for a leak to happen when it rains. Maybe I should have went with that. How much room does the BR have, before the 2nd slide goes out?

Hi Jerry. We have an RL and like Dave love ours. It has been pulled over 11 k miles so far and more to come.
If I had ordered it, knowing what I know now, I would definitely order the slide in slide for the bedroom and would also order disc brakes and heat pumps on both ACs.

Have to say though that we live ours As I write this we are in the Finger Lakes Wine Region of New York and just made reservations to come back in October because there is so much more we want to see and do.

Is that before the slide in a slide comes out? I didn't get that option, so I'm trying to figure out how much room there is without it. My Rushmore had opposing slides in the BR, so there is tons of room between the bed and dresser.

without my second slide extended, I have 23 inches between the bed and the dresser. With the second slide extended I have aprox. 47 inches.

The 36RL was the one for us! The only drawback was we wanted the king bed which wasn't available in a slide-in-slide. Today, they offer the 38RL which does have the king slide-in-slide. It provides at least 41" of floor space, and unlike the DRV which also has that much room in front of the bed because of slides on both sides, the slide-in-slide does not protrude into your patio space!! Huge plus to me, as the patio space is prime real estate to us.

We love the island, pantry, TV layout, all - but the side by side washer dryer is kind of a pain with the door in-between. It took me about 8 minutes to overcome that downside

If I could get a good deal.....I'd go with the 38RL in a heart beat. I've got all the bugs worked out of mine...I'd hate to start over again.

Ya, but I personally don't like the interior walls on the new ones (too dark) and the fact they removed the wood around the bathroom going up the stairs. I would have to pass on a new one, and wait to see what comes out next.

We are the same with the 38 FL - don't like the LR layout. If interested in trading up we would have to wait until they change the layout.

On our RL I have between 23 and 24 inches between the end of the bed and the cupboards with the slide extended (I don't have the slide in slide), it's wide enough for a comfortable walk through.

The only minor gripe that I have with the design is that we have the rear sofa that opens up to a bed (it was an option), the clearance between the sofa and the curbside slide is very tight, when retracting I have to lift the sofa cushions and when extending the slide I have to check first to ensure that the sofa hasn't moved forward during travel. The "facia" on the slide at the bottom came away from the slide, probably caused by the sofa pulling it off during retraction.

I'm going to take my router to the facia piece, I'll get another 1/2 inch or so of clearance as the facia piece extends beyond the slide edge.

Our 38gk ia not a sleeper sofa and it's pinched the cushion a couple of times...
have gotten into the habit of pulling the one cushion out and storing it under the table for towing...

(Maybe I should put it between the pantry and island to stop the pantry from opening while underway

)

My sofa fits fine (no sleeper, just the drawer), but like John, I catch the cushion every once in a while. Usually because they slide forward a bit during travel (those yellow lights at 45 mph and the last minute decision to stop on this not so quick brain)

Same here ~ I have the sofa with the drawer also and move the cushions.

As an aside, can't believe the difference with the Kodiak Disk Brakes. Whole rig stops just as well as the truck alone if not better. I made stops at a couple of intersections with no fuss that I know I would've blown thru with the old drums. No regrets on the expense for that along with the IS.

I agree with AA. The slide in a slide <in our opinion> makes a HUGE difference in making the bedroom feel much more residential. You don't have to turn sideways while walking around the bed (if you are a larger size person, this would get old real fast). Also agree on the washer and dryer. LOVE mine, would love the stacking more, but NOT a deal breaker.
