30 psi regulator

I have changed this regulator and auto change over wont change over....ran a straight run of hose to change over regulator and works fine...any harm in leaving 30 psi regulator off of 5th wheel.....2012 31sl...both inlets to change over regulator end up in the same chamber of the regulator....the top one.....appreciate any input....

Pretty sure that it is there for a reason. To reduce the high pressure from the tank to be reduced to 30 PSI. I also think there is probably a directional arrow on the regulator indicating the direction of LP flow. If it is hooked up backwards, I don't think it will allow gas to pass through. Might want to see if the inlet and outlet are marked somewhere on the new regulator.

There are regulatory requirements for the red regulator. I believe the regulations are related to the distance or length of gas line that you can connect to the tank without reducing the line pressure; it is a safety issue. So, I would not try to remove the red regulator.

That code change to NFPA 1192 is not that old, so all RVs before 2006 or so never had that 2nd regulator. I personally wouldn't hesitate to bypass it, or at least get a marshall brass replacement instead of those knock offs Redwood installs.

When my "RED" Regulator failed, I ordered a Marshall Brass replacement and a Marshall Brass Changeover Regulator too, much easier to read.
Replaced both Regulators, No propane problems since.

I think part of the new regs was to include a high flow cutoff...
i.e. if a line broke or was cut, say in an accident, the regulator would cutoff the propane flow...
If you cracked open the propane valve too quickly, it would shut down the flow too, so slowly open the valve !

When you change it out do you have to shutoff the tank that is on the opposite side of the coach?

I shut off and disconnected both tanks prior to replacing the regulator.

I do not remember where I finally got them from.
I did have a hard time finding what I was looking for at the time, the same supplier did not have both regulators in stock so I had to do some searching and do remember I wound up getting them from different suppliers.
